Test Programme

Tests Performed

Testing conducted per the material-specific appendix (27.10.2020) to the German guideline for testing special wheels for motor vehicles (BMV/StV 13/36.25.07-20.01).

§4.1

Stiffness Measurement

Radial measurements at tire seat inside and axial at spokes offset by 90°. Up to 4 tests per position; arithmetic mean values recorded. Measured in as-delivered condition, after preconditioning, after rotating bending, and after biaxial test.

Documented in Annex 1
§4.3.1

Radial Impact Test

Performed between 2 spokes, opposite the valve hole, simulating passage of a pothole or obstacle. Wheel load factor: 1.15, tire inflation pressure: 2.0 bar.

Passed
§4.3.3

10× Tire Mounting

Tire dimension 245/35 R20 mounted and dismounted 10 times to verify bead seat integrity under repeated service conditions.

Passed
§4.3.8

Thermal Pre-damage

Radial test with 245/35 R20 tire mounted, inflation pressure 2.0 bar. 10 heating/cooling runs to simulate brake heat soak and thermal cycling stress on the composite-metal bondline.

Passed — see Annex 2
§4.5

Biaxial Wheel Testing

Synthetic circuit derived from European operating conditions: straight driving on bad roads and motorways, plus sharp right and left curves. Tested on ZF1 outer drum test rig with Bridgestone Potenza 245/35 R20.

Summary

Test Conclusion

“The hybrid wheel construction of the size 9J × 20 H2 offset 40 partially meets the strength requirements of the material-specific appendix, status 27.10.2020, to the guideline for the testing of special wheels for motor vehicles and their trailers.”

— TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH, Garching, 11.08.2022

Max. wheel load capacity of 650 kg was positively verified in the tests carried out. The biaxial fatigue test achieved the full target distance of 7,500 km with visual inspection result: without cracks.
